"It has had a major impact on the fire," says Elvira Molin, alarm and control operator at the Southern Swedish Rescue Service.
The property contains five apartments, all of which were evacuated. There are no reports of anyone being physically injured.
On Tuesday morning, two fire engines remained at the scene.
"They are there for surveillance, and there are still small fires," says Elvira Molin.
The fire in Hjärup, located between Malmö and Lund, was reported at 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening, when smoke was seen coming from an apartment. It then quickly spread to the attic and roof.
