The rescue service has issued a so-called VMA, important message to the public, in Strömsund. Residents in the area are urged to go indoors and close doors, windows, and ventilation.
The house is completely destroyed and cannot be saved, reports the rescue service to P4 Jämtland late on Tuesday evening. Now the fire department is focusing on preventing the spread to nearby houses, which are also evacuated.

The alarm came at 20.26 on Tuesday. A fire started in an apartment, and then spread to the apartment above and subsequently to the roof.

The rescue service had about ten units on site, along with the ambulance, said Mikaela Warhed, team leader at SOS Alarm, to TT.
In addition to the rescue service, the police are also on site. The fire is being investigated as aggravated arson, announces the police on their website.
