The alarm came shortly after 01 on Sunday night. The fire started on a balcony or in an apartment high up in the house, and then spread to the roof construction.

Residents in one of the stairwells were evacuated at an early stage, and five more stairwells were evacuated during the morning. A total of 55 people have been evacuated.

There are no reports of injuries, says Mathias Kapocs, alarm and control operator at the rescue service.

On Sunday morning, the fire was still burning in the house, but the rescue operation could then begin to be scaled down. Ambulances and police were also on site on Sunday morning.

The smoke development has decreased, but if you feel uncomfortable, you should close windows and ventilation, advises the rescue service.

What started the fire is not yet known.

The incident is being investigated as aggravated arson, says Adam Isaksson Samara at the police to GP.

At present, there is no suspect for the crime.

At lunchtime, the rescue service is still on site with a smaller force. The operation will be completed at 14:00, writes the rescue service in a press release.
