There is a fire in a row of houses in Upplands Bro municipality north of Stockholm on Friday morning.
The fire is said to be fully developed and is spreading quickly. A large effort is underway on the site - the rescue service has more than 20 units from around ten stations on site.
No people are reported to be injured. The fire has spread to a nearby row of houses.
The entire row of houses, with a total of eight apartments, has been evacuated. Several houses have also had to be evacuated, but it is unclear how many people are affected.
It was thick smoke and you could feel directly in the air that it was serious. The whole neighborhood came out and I think everyone was equally shocked. There were many who cried and were very upset, says one who lives nearby to Dagens Nyheter.
Upplands Bro municipality has gone up to management level. A support center will be opened for those affected by the fire, the municipality writes on its website.
There is no prognosis for how long the extinguishing work can take.
This can take all day, says Roger Sverndal.
The fire is believed to have started on a patio, but it is unclear how. The alarm came at 05.49. The police have initiated a preliminary investigation regarding arson, in order to investigate the circumstances.
Sometimes it's more of a formality, says Stockholm police's press spokesperson Anna Westberg about the crime classification.
A technical investigation will be conducted when the fire is extinguished.
