The fire raged fiercely during Thursday afternoon at a scrapyard in the industrial area of Boländerna in Uppsala. The alarm about the fire came at 3 pm and the smoke development was intense.
A VMA, an important message to the public, was issued and the rescue leader urged everyone in the area to go indoors and close doors, windows, and ventilation.
At 6 pm, the rescue service announced that the fire was under control, and that the smoke mostly consisted of water vapor.
We expect to stay for another hour and will soon take a tour of the area to ensure that the VMA message can be removed, says Christer Wahlström, the rescue service's commanding officer.
