Smoke from the fire spread during the night to large parts of Gothenburg and a VMA, important message to the public, was issued. Just before 9 am, it was withdrawn. However, some smoke smell may still occur.
"The urging remains: if you feel discomfort from the smoke, go indoors and close windows, doors and ventilation", the rescue service writes in a press release.
The rescue service has now completed its operation on site, and the continued extinguishing work is taken over by the company in question.
Right next to the fire site, the Göta River flows, from which about 90 percent of Gothenburg's water supply comes. The intake from there has now been stopped, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
We have continued to close the intake in the Göta River as long as the extinguishing work is in progress and as long as there is a risk of leakage of contaminated water in any way, says Josefin Lundberg Abrahamsson, department manager for drinking water production at Kretslopp and vatten in Gothenburg, to GP.
The drinking water is now taken from Delsjön instead. The fire started at 19.35 on Monday.
