The house in northern London is still owned by Starmer, but he has lived in the official residence on Downing Street since taking office last year.
The fire occurred during the night towards Monday. The fire of lesser extent caused certain damages to the facade, according to a press release from the police. No one was injured.
"The Prime Minister thanks the rescue service for their work", says Starmer's spokesperson in a statement and declines further comments with reference to the police investigation.
