The Florentine club has started the Serie A season with three straight losses - against Roma (0-4), newcomers Frosinone (0-3) and Torino (1-2).
This prompted Fiorentina's management to fire coach Fabio Grosso, the former national team player who won World Cup gold in 2006.
Grosso joined the club this summer after Paolo Vanoli was fired, even though Vanoli had kept Fiorentina in the top flight.
