Finland's football team ended the World Cup qualifiers with a major fiasco. Malta won 1-0 in Helsinki.

Finland's chance of reaching second place in the group was vanishingly small even at kick-off.

After the final whistle, it was completely gone. Malta substitute Jake Grech scored the only goal of the match in the 82nd minute at the Olympic Stadium.

"We had so many chances, how many did they have? One or two?" says national captain Jacob Friis according to Yle.

Finland has finished playing in the World Cup qualifiers and finishes third in the group, where Poland and the Netherlands are competing for the top two places.
