After the victory, Dallas coach Pete DeBoer lavished praise on his seasoned star.
The guy (Granlund) absolutely exudes leadership. Among our Finnish players, he is something of an experienced statesman, said DeBoer about the 33-year-old.
Granlund opened the scoring in the middle of the first period when he, with a numerical advantage, got the puck on his own half, feinted past an opponent, and scored with a well-placed wrist shot.
The direct hit was followed up by two more from the Finn, with goal number two assisted by his compatriot Mikko Rantanen – who is pulling away in the playoff scoring league with a total of 19, four more than William Nylander of Toronto, who is in a shared third place.
Tonight's win means they lead the match series, decided in best-of-seven, with 3–1.
