Valtteri Bottas has won ten World Championship races during his Formula 1 career. But there will be no continuation with Sauber for the 35-year-old Finn.
Neither Bottas nor Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu will stay with the team next year.
"After open and constructive talks with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, we have come to the conclusion that we do not agree on the terms for continued cooperation", writes Sauber on X, formerly Twitter.
It has been clear for some time that German Nico Hülkenberg will take over one of the seats, and on Wednesday the team announced that 20-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto will get the other.
Valtteri Bottas drove for many years for Mercedes before switching to Alfa Romeo (now Sauber) in 2022. He finished second in the World Championship behind Briton Lewis Hamilton in both 2019 and 2020.
This season, both Bottas and Zhou Guanyu are on zero points.
