Superstar Mikko Rantanen – ninth in the NHL's scoring league – missed Carolina's home game against Utah on Saturday evening. The club reports on X that the forward is struggling with a lower-body injury.
It is unclear how severe Rantanen's injury is. Finland plays its premiere in the tournament – which is packed with NHL stars – against the USA on Friday night, Swedish time.
Rantanen has so far scored 66 points (26 goals–40 assists) in 55 NHL matches.
