Finland's ski jumping coach Igor Medved has been sent home from the Olympics after violating the team's alcohol rules, writes Aftonbladet. "I made a mistake," the 44-year-old Slovenian said in a statement.

Medved is the head coach of the Finnish Olympic ski jumping team, but left Italy prematurely after violating the team's rules and values.

"This is about alcohol-related issues. We take violations of the rules very seriously and will act quickly in this matter," said Janne Hänninen, head of sports at the Finnish Olympic Committee.

On the committee's website, Medved also said:

"I made a mistake and I am very sorry. I would like to apologize to the entire Finnish team, the athletes and the fans."
