It was at the end of March that Stubb – as the first Nordic leader – visited Trump on his home turf.

They played golf together and according to Stubb they seven hours together.

I spent more time with Donald Trump than what our three previous presidents together have done with an American president one-on-one during the last 30 years. So it was rewarding, he says to Di.

Stubb says that Finland applies "value-based realism" also in the relationship with the USA – which was actually intended for countries like China and Saudi Arabia. It means that one cannot influence in the same way as in relationships with countries that one shares an opinion with.

We are very modest about what we can do. There is a limitation. But now I – we – have a good contact with President Trump. We call, he says and answers affirmatively to the question if Trump called Stubb after the golf round.

Furthermore, Stubb says he always sends a message to Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) after he has spoken with Trump.
