Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre jointly announced on Tuesday that they had initiated and held a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It is now clear that Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will meet her American counterpart, Marco Rubio, in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
In a press release, Valtonen says the meeting comes “at an appropriate time and provides an opportunity for a confidential discussion about efforts to achieve peace in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.” The parties are also said to be discussing economic cooperation.
