It was a long way off for Finland, but after a dramatic turnaround, the Lions are through to the semifinals of the Olympic hockey tournament. Finland defeated Switzerland 3–2 in overtime.

Finland got off to a tough start. After 14 minutes of play, Finnish goalkeeper Juuse Saros carelessly passed straight to a Swiss player, who found Damien Riat for a 1–0 lead.

A little over a minute later, Nino Niederreiter added another.

This was followed by an intense hunt to reduce the deficit - and with six minutes remaining, Sebastian Aho finally scored.

With 2.5 minutes left to play, the Finns pulled their goalkeeper, which would pay off. Miro Heiskanen's puck was directed into the goal - and in overtime, Artturi Lehkonen got free and scored the decisive goal.

The semi-final matchup will be determined after all quarter-finals have been played.
