Finland close to having the most unemployed

Finland is getting closer to having the highest unemployment rate in the EU, according to aggregate statistics from Eurostat.

In September, Finnish unemployment rose to 9.8 percent, according to Eurostat calculations. This is only 0.7 percentage points behind Spain, where unemployment is estimated to be the highest at 10.5 percent.

Sweden remains with the EU's third highest unemployment rate, at 8.7 percent.

Overall, unemployment was unchanged in September compared to August: 6 percent in the EU as a whole and 6.3 percent in the eurozone.
