It's very sad. This concerns two very large basketball clubs with extensive youth programs and broad activities, said Lena Wallin-Kantzy, chairwoman of the SBL's women's league association, to P4 Radiosporten.
The dropouts are largely due to strained finances in the clubs, but also to the fact that players, for various reasons, are unable to make the commitment required at the elite level.
"Our league is probably the most geographically spread-out league. Travel costs are increasing enormously, so that is of course a contributing factor," said Lena Wallin-Kantzy.
