Alexander Kluge was one of those who paved the way for the great West German film wave of the 1960s and 1970s with films such as “Anita G – Girl Without a Past” and “The Artists in the Circus Dome: Rådlösa”. For the latter, he was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1968.

Kluge was born in 1932 in Halberstadt in central Germany and began his career as a lawyer, but soon turned to literature and film.
