Here is a joyful message for Tre Kronor: Nashville star Filip Forsberg is ready for the home World Championship.

It's going to be damn fun, especially in Sweden and get the chance to play in front of the Swedish people again. A World Championship on home soil is something you probably only get to experience once in your career. I and my family want to take the chance to win gold again, says Forsberg to Viaplay on X.

The 30-year-old adds a caveat, however:

Provided nothing turns up on the medical examination in the coming days, it'll be so.

Filip Forsberg scored 76 points (31 goals and 45 assists) for Nashville in the past NHL season, which missed the playoffs. He has previously played in two World Championships with Tre Kronor and was part of the team that won the World Championship gold in Denmark in 2018.

The Ice Hockey World Championship will be played on May 9-25 in Stockholm and Herning, Denmark. Sweden will play all its matches in Stockholm.
