FIFA is aiming to ensure that more young players get playing time in the long term. One idea is that clubs should always have a player from the U20 or U21 teams on the pitch.

In a year, FIFA hopes to present a set of regulations. These regulations would be stricter than those currently in place in national and international club football.

In the Champions League, the requirement is at least eight own products among the 25 players named in a squad, but there is no requirement that they be allowed to play.

UEFA's definition of an own product: a player raised at the club or at another club in the same country who has belonged to the club for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21.
