The fact that World Cup tickets are expensive is nothing new, but this summer's World Cup seems to be something very special.
Now FIFA has added two new ticket categories – at the most expensive end of the scale.
Instead of $25,500 for the top seats for the USA's opening match against Paraguay, the new "Category 1" tickets will cost up to $38,000. For the best seats in the arena for Canada's opening match, fans will have to pay just over $31,000.
Last week, FIFA raised ticket prices for the World Cup final in New Jersey on July 19 to around 100,000 kronor, or $10,990, for the top category.
