Turkey got off to a nightmare start against Paraguay on Saturday morning. Already in the second minute, Paraguay capitalized on a failed play and Matias Galarza drilled in to make it 1-0 near the left post.
Despite enjoying a huge advantage for much of the match and playing almost the entire half with an extra man, Turkey failed to find a way past a great Orlando Gill in the Paraguayan goal. The final score was 1–0 and a Turkish fiasco was complete.
“We apologize to the entire nation. Throughout my national team career, I will work to make people forget this championship,” Arda Güler said, according to Turkish Haber 7.
