The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (FI) has decided to drop an investigation into pension manager Alecta's investments in three American banks, which collapsed in dramatic fashion in 2023.

"The Financial Supervisory Authority has assessed that no regulatory violations have occurred," FI writes.

It was in the spring of 2023 that the niche banks Silicon Valley Bank, First Republic Bank and Signature Bank in the US collapsed. Alecta lost a total of approximately SEK 20 billion of pension savers' money in the collapse.

"It is clear that Alecta has made large losses as a result of these investments, but we cannot conclude that Alecta has violated the regulations," says Business Area Manager Leonard Weber Landgren at FI.

FI is still investigating Alecta due to the investments in Heimstaden Bostad.
