The Financial Supervisory Authority (FI) warns Swedish consumers against scams, where someone claiming to work for FI contacts them.

"We encourage consumers to always be cautious and vigilant when they are contacted," writes FI in a press release.

The fraud attempts are made via phone or email and involve someone posing as an employee of FI. They may also use FI's logo or the names of FI employees.

"For example, the scammers offer help in getting back money that the consumer previously lost in an investment fraud or money that the consumer has in a supposed bank account, writes FI.

"FI never contacts consumers to help them get back lost money. We also do not assist with refunds for individuals who have lost money in frauds," adds FI.
