This is stated by SVT, which has obtained figures from the credit information company UC. The chairwoman of the Musicians' Association, Karin Inde, calls for more cultural policy:
"We see a cultural policy that does not invest as it should in infrastructure. Support is not being accounted for and in some places major cuts are being made," she tells SVT.
Last year, 1,157 new companies were started in music production, performing arts and artistic activities, compared to 1,382 the year before. The number of new companies started last year was at the same level as during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.
The number of bankruptcies last year was 57, according to UC, which is an increase from 43 in 2024.
