The number of bankruptcies in the construction industry fell by 5 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to a compilation by the Swedish Construction Companies.

A total of 1,933 construction companies went bankrupt last year. Nine out of ten construction companies that went bankrupt had fewer than 10 employees. A total of 5,176 employees were affected by construction bankruptcies last year.

"We see a small improvement, but many small businesses are forced to fight for every krona earned," says Johan Deremar, economist and forecaster at the Swedish Construction Association, in a press release.
