The number of bankruptcies decreased by 15 percent in January this year compared with the same month last year, according to the credit-reporting company Creditsafe.

"Almost all industries and metropolitan regions show lower bankruptcy rates than last year - at the same time as several large companies in solar, wind and mobile homes went bankrupt during the month," Creditsafe writes in a press release.

According to the company, the number of bankruptcies in January amounted to 782 limited liability companies, which can be compared with 916 limited liability companies a year earlier.

"We are cautiously optimistic and hope that we can now enter a period of falling bankruptcy rates after just over two years at historically high levels," says Henrik Jacobsson, CEO of Creditsafe, in a comment.
