When the government presented its autumn budget, it contained a number of proposals – including reduced VAT on food and reduced income tax – intended to strengthen households' personal finances.
Will this be the case?
Well.
Only one fifth of the households surveyed in SBAB's investigation believe that their economy will benefit from the budget proposal.
Just over one in ten believe instead in a negative impact, while three in ten think that there will be no difference at all.
”Regardless of what one thinks about these measures politically, I am a little surprised that as few as one in five believe that it will have a positive impact on personal finances”, says Robert Boije, chief economist at SBAB, in a press release.
