Ferry prices have been the subject of an increasingly intense debate, notes the region, which has therefore made a major review of what the trips actually cost for the people of Gotland.
According to the survey, the average price for a Gotland passenger ticket has increased by 51 percent since 2017. For travel with a vehicle, the increase has been as much as 75 percent.
This is significantly higher than the corresponding increases in, for example, gasoline prices or train travel on the mainland, according to the region.
"I share the people of Gotland's concern about this price development," says Meit Fohlin (S), chairman of the regional board, in a press release.
"There is a broad political consensus on the island on this issue and we are now working together to get attention, primarily from the state."
