The ferry, with at least 27 people on board, sank in the Shendi district of North Nile Province, according to the medical organization, Sudan Doctors Network.
Rescue workers are searching for six more people, including women and children. Six people survived the accident.
The medical organization is urging authorities to deploy specialized rescue teams and equipment to speed up search efforts.
