Fernandes' historic goal assist could break record for most assists in a single Premier League season

By setting up Bryan Mbeumo for Manchester United's third goal against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Fernandes reached 20 assists - equal to record holders Thierry Henry (2002–03 season) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019–2020).

Manchester United have one league match left this season, away to Brighton next weekend.

Attacking midfielder Fernandes is one of the Premier League's biggest stars.

In this summer's World Cup, the 31-year-old is also expected to be a key player for Portugal in their quest for a medal.

Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 3-2, thus securing third place in the league.
