Femke Bol, 25, recently won World Championship gold on 400 meters hurdles in Tokyo. Now the World Champion changes distance to 800 meters, she announces on Instagram.

”I am very glad to be able to share the next chapter in my career. It is a big change, uncertain and challenging, but I am ready to do the job, together with a fantastic team and to enjoy this new journey”, she writes.

Bol has two Olympic Games bronze, one World Championship gold and one World Championship silver on the distance. The Dutchwoman has also taken three championship golds in relay.

Prior to the season, the biggest competitor on 400 meters hurdles, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, announced that she also changes distance. The American chose instead 400 meters, which generated a World Championship gold in Tokyo.
