It was set up for a real Swedish encounter in English football on Saturday – but when Arsenal, with coach Jonas Eidevall, and Chelsea fielded their starting lineups, only Johanna Rytting Kaneryd in the away team was present from the blue-yellow.
On the Chelsea bench were Zecira Musovic and Nathalie Björn, the latter of whom was substituted in with just minutes left to play.
It was also Chelsea who emerged victorious from the encounter, after a dream start for the team when Mayra Ramirez scored 1–0 as early as the fourth minute and Sandy Baltimore followed up with 2–0 after just over a quarter of an hour played.
Arsenal's reduction came just before the halftime break through Caitlin Foord, and in the pursuit of equalization, Stina Blackstenius was substituted in with just over a quarter of an hour left of the match.
The Swedish star was just a post away from equalizing, but in the end, it was a 2–1 victory for Chelsea.
Arsenal's Rosa Kafaji remained on the bench for the entire match.
