A few years ago, Felix Sandman hit a wall and had to take a long break. He has returned to music - and has released a song with his fiancée Andrea Källström's band Lennixx.

Now he is back as an actor. On June 1, the streaming service SkyShowtime will premiere "Trion", the drama series based on the novel of the same name by author Johanna Hedman.

"This is the biggest, finest and most close-to-heart project I've done in a very long time. Maybe ever," says Felix Sandman enthusiastically.

Love triangle

In "Trion" he plays the artist August who becomes involved in a love triangle with the unhappy rich man's daughter Thora (Rebecka Harper) and the literature student Hugo (Seth Manteus). The latter comes wide-eyed from Lund and is drawn into the world of the other two among artists, decadent parties and large attics in Stockholm.

For many, the first years of adulthood are a very "dreamy" time with many emotions and strong colors. You want to do everything and feel so many things, but you hold yourself back from daring to take certain steps, and "Trion" is about the consequences of that, explains Felix Sandman.

Felix Sandman has previously had roles in the Netflix series "The Greatest of All", while also continuing to make music. So what's next?

Both! I'm very much in love with film right now. And always have been. But I've grown and feel like I'm in a place where I know what I want to do within it - and that's a lot. Let me do that first and foremost and then make music at the same time.

Two timelines

"Trion" is set in two timelines. Twenty years later in the story, Hugo reunites with Thora and tentatively tries to sort out his feelings for her. The older Hugo is played by August Wittgenstein, the German actor who is known to Swedish television viewers primarily from the remake of "Trolösa" on SVT last year.

He thinks that the time jump in the series creates a form of nostalgia that many people long for in our time.

I don't know anyone who doesn't think, "How good we had it 20 years ago." Many things are so alarming today that you just dream back every now and then.

So you mean we are especially susceptible to nostalgia in these times?

"I could imagine that it is. I have no evidence that it is. But it's just a little theory I'm throwing in here," says August Wittgenstein, laughing.

Facts: “The Trio”

Author Johanna Hedman made her debut as a novelist in 2021 with "Trion." The book became a hit, having been sold to, among others, German- and English-speaking countries even before publication, which is unusual for a debut author.

The novel received relatively lukewarm reviews from critics, which in turn led to a debate in the culture pages about the reviews themselves - whether the commercial success had influenced the reviewers.

Veronica Zacco has written the script for the series, which is directed by Anders Hazelius.
