The shooting queen Felicia Schröder gave Häcken hope in the qualifying for Champions League. A class goal in the final minutes saved 1–1 at home against Atlético Madrid in the first match of the decisive qualifying round.

Häcken seemed to be heading for a tough home defeat when Schröder scored in the 86th minute after substitute Paulina Nyström had broken a pass in the guests' defense. Schröder saw that Atlético's goalkeeper Lola Gallardo was far out and lifted in the equalizer.

I tried to take a chance. Lovely, says the 18-year-old super talent in Aftonbladet's TV broadcast.

Atlético Madrid controlled and dominated against a passive Häcken before the break.

Goal from a corner

The lead goal came after a corner in the 17th minute when Luany from close range could place 1–0 behind the national team goalkeeper Jennifer Falk.

The guests were close to 2–0 a few times, Falk saved a finish from close range and when the summer's European Championship goalkeeper came at an angle on a high ball, Aivi Luik saved on the goal line.

Häcken's players were not satisfied with the performance before the break.

We make an okay match, but have a bit too much respect in the first half. It's only halftime and we need to polish some details before the return match, says Schröder.

Suspected penalty situation

It got better after the break – when Häcken also called for a penalty, but referee Ivana Projkovska denied it.

It was Tabitha Tindell who was pulled down in the moment after she had missed a giant chance. But since VAR is not used in the qualifying round, the referee could not get help from it. Tindell had previously had a great chance from close range, but Gallardo saved.

Top scorer Schröder, 24 goals in 17 matches in Damallsvenskan, saw to it that there is hope for Häcken before the return match in Madrid in a week.
