A federal judge in Minnesota is temporarily halting all arrests of refugees in the state who do not have permanent resident status or who have been charged with a crime that would legally warrant deportation, reports ABC News.

According to the ruling, all detainees who meet those criteria should also be released.

Thousands of federal border and immigration officers are in Minnesota following orders from the presidential administration as part of a federal operation targeting migrants who are in the United States illegally.
