The lawsuits, in addition to Walz, also named Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and related to statements about the controversial ICE operation in the Minneapolis region at the beginning of the year.
According to Judge Patrick Schlitz, the lawsuits from the US Department of Justice are a form of "harassment and retaliation" against Minnesota politicians for failing to assist the federal government in the desired manner.
