The head of the vaccine program at the American drug authority FDA has resigned, reports Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
Peter Marks, a veteran at the authority, accuses in his resignation application Health Minister Robert F Kennedy of spreading misinformation and lies.
Kennedy has profiled himself as a sharp vaccine critic and has spread conspiracy theories about, among other things, covid vaccines.
Marks believes that Kennedy's aggressive stance on the vaccine issue is irresponsible and poses a danger to the public. He mentions, for example, an outbreak of measles in Texas and the consequences of many not having been vaccinated.
According to the newspapers, Marks has been pressured to resign.
