Handala, the hacker group, has posted photos of Patel, as well as a CV and personal documents. However, most of the material appears to be about ten years old.
According to an FBI source familiar with the matter, one of Kash Patel's private email accounts was hacked. It is not clear when the breach occurred, but media reports from late 2024 say Patel was informed he had been targeted in a cyberattack linked to Iran.
Handala writes in a statement that the cyberattack was revenge for the high-profile attack in the city of Minab on February 28, for which the US has been blamed, in which over 160 people, the majority of whom were children, were killed.
