The Cuban Coast Guard and the crew of a Florida-registered high-speed boat were involved in a fatal shootout on February 25 of this year.
Five people aboard the Florida-registered boat were killed in the shootout in Cuban territorial waters. Another five were arrested and charged with terrorism by Cuban authorities.
According to Cuban authorities, the group attempted to import weapons to destabilize the country's regime.
A source at the U.S. embassy told AFP that a delegation from the FBI had arrived in Cuba for an "in-depth and independent" investigation into the incident.
