It was in May that the man set fire to a sheet in the bedroom of a home in Rättvik. The man was charged with aggravated murder, aggravated child endangerment and two counts of attempted murder.
When firefighters carried out the rescue operation in the burning apartment, they found the man and the children sitting on a sofa. All three were taken to hospital.
According to Mora District Court, the father made no attempt to save his children from the fire.
In addition to the prison sentence, he has been ordered to pay damages of 840,000 kronor to the children and almost 60,000 kronor to the neighbours whose apartments were damaged in the fire.
