The boy, who was 14 at the time, shot two students and two teachers at his school outside Atlanta, Georgia, in 2024. He was arrested immediately after the crime and was sentenced to life in prison earlier this week.
The father had given his son a gun as a Christmas present, even though, according to prosecutors, he had received “several warnings that (his son) could harm others.” The son was obsessed with school shootings and reportedly had an altar in his room dedicated to the boy who shot and killed 17 people at a school in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.
The father was convicted this spring of two counts of manslaughter and two counts of manslaughter, in the killings of the students and teachers, respectively, and was sentenced on Thursday.
