The father of the man in his 25s who is suspected of murder of an ambulance nurse in Nordanstig is critical of how psychiatry has handled his son, reports SVT News Gävleborg.

He is suicidal and behaves violently. I think they should have had better control over him, says the father to SVT.

Last Thursday, the son was taken to a psychiatric ward by the police after threatening ambulance staff with a baseball bat.

Once admitted, he continued to behave violently, but as early as Friday, he was allowed to leave. A decision the son made himself, according to the father.

He says that the son should have been kept there and that he often gets to leave soon after being admitted.

That someone who is there to help him has to risk his life, it's worse than terrible.
