Last year, at least sixty lives were required when large crowds of Kenyans took to the streets to protest against mismanagement and harsh economic conditions.
Now that exactly one year has passed since the culmination of those demonstrations, protest actions were held again in several places. And again it became violent. In Matuu, about ten miles from Nairobi, around ten people were hit by bullets. At least two of them were killed.
According to the newspaper The Nation, it was the police who opened fire.
In Nairobi, the police shot tear gas and rubber-coated bullets at demonstrators.
On June 25, 2024, among other things, Kenya's parliament was stormed.
