A man in his 70s has died in a fire in a summer cottage in Bergs municipality in Jämtland. The fire broke out on Thursday evening.
Police and rescue services were alerted to the scene because people from a distance saw that something was on fire. When they arrived, the cottage was almost completely burned down, says Elin Andersson, press spokesperson.
A injured man in his 60s who was found outside the cottage could tell parts of what had happened to the emergency services. He was taken to Östersund for medical care. The deceased was found in the cottage.
It is unclear what caused the fire. A technical investigation will be conducted on site and the police have initiated a preliminary investigation into arson.
