The latest survey by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce shows that clothing sales rose by 1.3 percent, while shoe sales rose by 1.1 percent. Particularly notable are so-called premium sales, which increased by a full 14.4 percent in April compared to last year.
Sofia Larsen, CEO of Swedish Trade, said in a press release that households' purchasing power appears to be strengthening this year, even though the growth rate has slowed somewhat since March.
“But this assumes that the conflict in the Middle East does not have more serious consequences,” she said.
