Little Faroe Islands delivered a giant bang in the World Championship qualifying round in football. The island nation defeated Czech Republic in Torshavn with 2–1.

Now, the Faroe Islands have suddenly got the chance to reach the World Championship.

Martin Agnarsson, in everyday life in Danish AGF, made the winning goal in the 81st minute. Then, the Czech Republic had equalized the Faroe Islands' 1–0 lead just three minutes before.

The Faroe Islands are only ranked 136th in the world, while the Czech Republic is found almost 100 places ahead – in 39th place.

The Faroe Islands are third in the World Championship qualifying group, one point behind second-placed Czech Republic and leading Croatia. The Faroe Islands have one match left to play, away against Croatia, while the Czech Republic will host the bottom team Malta in their last match.
