The message comes two days after Karlstad's club was knocked out in the SM quarterfinals against Skellefteå with 2-4 in the best of seven matches.
"When an opportunity like this arises, it's hard to say no. It's also an honor that a club in the world's best league has seen me and what I can do. But with that said, it's just today a bit hard to feel that great joy about it. The elimination still hurts a bit too much right now", says Tomasek in a statement on Färjestad's website.
The 29-year-old has been a key offensive player in FBK since he was recruited from his parent club Sparta Prag before last season. Then he won SHL's scoring league with 25 goals and finished third in the points league when Färjestad won the series. Last spring, he was also part of the team that won the World Championship gold with the Czech Republic on home soil.
This season, Tomasek won the points league in SHL's regular season with 57 points, 24 goals and 33 assists, in 47 matches when the team finished fourth. However, both seasons have ended in direct elimination for Färjestad in the playoffs.
It is not yet known which NHL club Tomasek will join.
