Deficit of two goals after the match in Austria. Moreover, injuries, illness, and suspension. Yet, it went well for Färjestad – who are advancing to the CHL semifinal after 6–0, total 7–3 against Salzburg.

Joakim Nygård, Per Åslund, and Jonathan Andersson on the injury list. Viktor Lodin ill. Adam Ollas Mattsson suspended and Jack Berglund on Junior World Championship assignment.

The conditions were not the best for Färjestad ahead of the return match in the CHL quarterfinals against Salzburg.

For the Karlstad team, the premises played no role.

Lucas Forsell's early goal in the second period showed the way, and before the middle act was over, Färjestad had turned 1–3 from the meeting in Salzburg into a 4–3 lead after goals from Marcus Westfält and Axel Bergkvist.

In the end, it was a 6–0 win, 7–3 overall.

In the semifinals, Sparta Prague awaits.

The Czech club put in a powerful third period in the return match against Växjö, scoring four goals and thus leveling the score to 6–6 overall. In overtime, Jani Lajunen – who previously played for an SHL club – scored the winner after 1.57 minutes.

The CHL semifinals will be played on 14–15 January with return matches on 21–22 January. The final will be decided on 18 February.
